Tachometer with a LCD from Nokia 5110

Ten years ago was Nokia 5110 The Big Cellphone. Here is an useful recycling: Digital tachometer with a 5110 LCD.

(Source: Elfly.pl)

Simply, but useful circuit, recycling the old old N5110 LCD display. Tachometer use photoresistor to detect light pulses. Those pulses are amplified, counted and converted into RPM number by an ATMega8L. Everything is displayed on the vintage N5110 display. This construction should be a good source of information for your own 5110's LCD experiments.
