ARM Car locator

This car locator is built around an LM3S811 microcontroller. It uses a GPS receiver to record geographical coordinates and a GSM modem to communicate with the user. If the car moves, the system sends an alert.

The heart of the car tracking system consists of the Luminary Micro’s LM3S811 Evaluation Board. The system uses a GPS receiver record geographical coordinates and a GSM modem to communicate with the user. The power to the system is derived from the car power supply.

The system uses commercially available Gmouse GPS and GSM modem. Bothe these
devices work at 5V power supply. The communication with the ARM microcontroller is
based on RS232 interface and a MAX3232 level converter is used to interface the ARM
Micro’s 3.3V logic signals to the RS232 levels required by the GPS and GSM modules.
